Lila Mae Sherman, 92, of Prosperity, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on February 12, 1919, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Purd and Mamie Cooper Paschal. She was a member of Chapel in the Woods.
Mrs. Sherman is survived by her husband, Melvin C. Sherman; sons, Raymond C. Crossland of Eastover; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty C. and M.C. Meetze, Jr. of Prosperity;a daughter-in-law, Elaine Crossland of Ridgeway; step-sons, Randy David Sherman of Prosperity and Eddie Dale Sherman of TN; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sherman was predeceased by her first husband, Woodrow C. Crossland and a son, Gerald Dean Crossland.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 13, 2012, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Griffith. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Lake Murray Rescue Squad, 149 Seibert Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Pallbearers will be Richard Lawson, Richard Nelson, Ruel Paul, Mike Thomas, Brian MacDonald, Mutt Stephens, Don Stephens, Joaquin Mujica and Gordon Shore.
