Kihachi “Ken” Sugibayashi, 61, of Newberry, died Wednesday, February 9, 2012, at Palmetto Health Richland.

Born on June 25, 1950, in Aburahi, Japan. He was an employee of West Fraser and attended Glory Tabernacle.

Mr. Sugibayashi is survived by his wife, Sheila Blanton Sugibayashi; a son, Joshua Sugibayashi of Newberry; a daughter, Amy Sugibayashi of Columbia; his mother-in-law, Grace L. Blanton of Newberry; his father, Seiithu Sugibayashi, two sisters and a brother all of Japan. He was predeceased by his mother, Chizu Sugibayashi and his twin brother.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Joel Mundy. Mr. Sugibayashi may be viewed at the funeral home prior to the services. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
