Laura Monts Longshore, 91, of Silverstreet, widow of F.W. “Bushy” Longshore, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on May 20, 1920, in Chapin, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Lula Mayer Monts. Mrs. Longshore was a former cosmetologist and retired from ISE America. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, John F. and Alice Longshore of Silverstreet with whom she lived and Henry R. and Judy Longshore of Prosperity; a brother, Jake Monts of Summerville; grandchildren, Cindy and John Lindler and Melissa and Ray Spicer of Newberry and Kandy and Joe Minick and Robert Longshore of Silverstreet and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, Calvin Monts and Mike Monts.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Hugh Bickley. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00- 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1167 Trinity Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be John Lindler, Robert Longshore, Joe Minick and Ray Spicer.
