Cynthia Duncan Franklin, 64, of Newberry, widow of Dennis Alvin Franklin, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Palmetto Health Richland.
Born on December 5, 1947, Ms. Franklin was the daughter of the late Callie Ligon Duncan, Jr. and the late Margaret McCarty Duncan. She was a homemaker for 44 years. Ms. Franklin was a lifetime member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Denise Reid and husband, Reggie of Newberry, Heather Banks and husband, Richard of Saluda, English Shealy and husband, Gaston of Concord, NC and Brooke Franklin of Lexington; six grandchildren, Ligon Sutton, Callie Reid, Gabrielle Shealy, Grier Shealy, Gracyn Shealy and Hunter Bass and one step-grandchild, Amanda Reid. Ms. was also survived by her loving poodle companion, Bella.
Ms. Franklin was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Dennis Alvin Franklin and her very special and loyal poodle companion of 11 years, Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Barry Brown. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:30 am -10:45 am at the funeral home on Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the Newberry County Humane Society, PO Box 485, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Richard Banks, Reggie Reid, Gaston Shealy and Ligon Sutton.
