Shirley Bowers Fellers, 73, of Prosperity, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Intermedical Hospital of SC at Palmetto Health Baptist Medical Center.
Born on May 2, 1939, in Newberry, she was the daughter of the late Asa Furman Bowers and Bertha Cromer Bowers. She worked for Old School Manufacturing and Damon International before quitting to stay home with her sons. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and a member of Woodmen of the World. Mrs. Fellers was a devoted wife and mother. Her greatest joy was taking care of her sons.
Mrs. Fellers is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, J.P. Fellers and her sons, Dean and Gene Fellers of the home; sisters, Alma Lake of Columbia and Dot Dominick of Anderson. She was predeceased by a brother, William P. Bowers and sisters, Magneline Bowers, Lera Kinard and Marjorie Lake.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. Herbert Stephens. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church Improvement Fund, 80 Zion Circle, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Bowers, Dave Edwards, Ryan Fellers, Jimmy Kinard, Mike Prince and Richard Stevens.
