Cliff Conner passed away at his home in Newberry, on Sunday morning, May 27, 2012. He was surrounded by his loving and devoted wife and many other loving family members.

Mr. Conner was born on August 13, 1930, in Newberry, he was a U.S. Army veteran where he served his country as a Staff Sergeant of Combat Engineers in the Korean War. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Whitmire and retired from Greenwood Mills after 45 years of faithful service. Mr. Conner was an avid bird hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and his family very much.

Mr. Conner is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Dorothy Sutton Conner; brothers, Bentley Conner of Kinards and Frank Gresham of Joanna; sister, Juanita Lee of NC; special niece, Morgan Sutton (his little pumpkin); special nephews, Ben, Drew and Gabriel Sutton; special brothers-in-law, Paul Sutton of Newberry and Melvin Sutton of Whitmire and many other loving family members.

He was predeceased in death by his father and mother, Mayhill and Fannie Ruth Gresham Conner, his step-mother, Eva Ellisor Conner; special aunt and uncle, Vinnie and Alton Gresham; sisters,Willie C. Crapps, Margaret Long, Allie Moates, Jenny Brewington, Florence Hazel, Joann Brown and Inez Long; brothers, Joe Conner, Bill Gresham and Hyland Gresham.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday at Friendship Baptist Church by the Rev. Ray Blue and Rev. Dennis Spencer. Burial will follow in Whitmire Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Friendship Baptist Church in Whitmire. Memorials may be made to the church 503 Duckett Street, Whitmire, SC 29178 or Hospice Care of Tri County, 13795 C.R. Koon Highway, Newberry, SC 29108.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice Care of Tri-County and Dr. Michael Bernardo for their loving care given to Mr. Cliff.

Active pallbearers will be Brandon Jones, Chris Sutton, Jeffrey Sutton, Mike Sutton, Rocky Sutton and Joe Walker.

Dear Dorothy, Bently, Frank and Juanita and Family, I was so sorry to read of Cliff's passing. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May God give you the peace that only he can give at a time such as this. I have a lot of good memories of Cliff whe we all lived in Joanna and he was staying with aunt Vinnie and Uncle Alton. My Love to all of you.
