David Calhoun Hill, 73, of Whitmire, died Sunday, December 2, 2012, at his residence.

Born on October 19, 1939, in Little Mountain, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary Wyse Hill. He was a veteran of the SC Army National Guard and was retired after 40 years from American Fiber and Finishing.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce McCullough Hill; a son, Johnathan David Hill of Whitmire; a daughter, Renee McDermott of Whitmire; sisters, Spruce Sundeen of CA and Peggy Counts of Little Mountain; brothers, James Hill of Newberry, Albert Hill of Little Mountain and Wyse Hill of Pomaria; a grandson, Benjamin McDermott.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Tri-County, 13795 C.R. Koon Highway, Newberry, SC 29108 or the American Cancer Society, 303 W. Alexander Aveneu, Suite 1, Greenwood, SC 29646.

Uncle David you will be missed greatly. yes i agree about the Apple Tree. we had some great times together going through the CAR WASH. Ill never forget you. you will forever live in my heart. love and miss you!! Joyce i will always be here for yall sweet heart just give me a call if you need me. shoulder to cry on or whatever you may need. love ya bunches!!!

Uncle David you are going to be missed in so many ways. I will NEVER forget going to the store on Fridays to get candy then off to the creek for some fun. Aunt Joyce and I was laughing the other day about the APPLE TREE whoo that tree brought us kids many of spankings :) just if you had understood that we liked the ones on top not on the ground (haha) I love you Uncle David may you rest in piece, God has taken a good one but now I know I have another angel watching over me!!! Give my granny and my daddy a hug for me please and until we meet again I LOVE YOU.

David (Snuffy) you will be missed so much by the Lathrop family. I remember such good times as a little girl with you coming to the house .. You were a great friend to my dad and I know that you will see mama in heaven and remember old times..
