John Richard Wedaman, 70, of Prosperity, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on January 18, 1947 in Newberry, he was a son of the late David LeRoy Wedaman, Jr. and Marjie Louise Bobb Wedaman. He was a Marine veteran and was retired from Duke Power. Mr. Wedaman was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of NRA.

He is survived by sisters, Evelyn Louise (Frank) Lloyd of Edisto Island and Barbara Ellen (Jospeh) Turner of Prosperity; nieces and nephews, Karen Suber, Kathy Pitts, Steven Suber, Michael Turner and Jonathan Wedaman; great-nieces and great-nephews, Courtney Turner, Hillary Suber, Hugh Pitts, Jr. Mason Suber and Dean Suber. He was predeceased by a brother, George David Wedaman.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by the Rev. Arden Hallman. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 209 New Hope Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.

I am heartbroken to hear of Richard's passing. I have many, many fond memories of trips to Edisto with him & the rest of my family. He was my cousin but was more like an uncle. It saddens me to know that he is gone. RIP cuz!
