Iris Jennings Rodelsperger, 89, of Newberry, South Carolina, widow of George Edward “Eddie” Rodelsperger, Sr., entered into eternal rest Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Her funeral service will be held Sunday, August 19, 2018, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00pm. Interment, Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home prior to the service.

Iris was born January 7, 1929,in Newberry, South Carolina, daughter of the late Curtis and Orii Jennings.She was a dedicated, lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Newberry, where she served on the flower committee for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Newberry Opera House Guild and served as the Backstage Hostess for 18 years. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. During her life, she worked as a dental office manager and assistant to Dr. F.A. Truett, served as circulation manager at Newberry College, and for many years worked in real estate sales at Century 21 and Hometown Realty until retiring at age 85.

She is survived by her two children: Dr. George Edward Rodelsperger, Jr. (Karen Lassig) of Johns Island, SC, and Deane Rodelsperger Hines of Simpsonville, SC; grandson, Dr. Robert Peter Rodelsperger (Holly Renken); great grandchildren Allie, Emma, and Peter, of Charleston, SC; four granddaughters: Jenni Hines Dunagan (Rodney Chad), great grandchildren Sophie and Luke, of Simpsonville, SC, Elizabeth Rodelsperger Curry (Dr. Jason Andrew) of Charleston, SC, Katie Hines Hunt (Zachary Jon), great grandchildren Logan, Leah, Allie, and Max, of Simpsonville, SC, and Sarah Rodelsperger Rickman (Demitri Emanuel) of Charleston, SC.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Arbrette Canizaro. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Newberry.

Sorry to learn of Mrs. Rodelsperger’s passing. She and I worked many shows together at the Opera House, and she was always a gracious hostess.

I will miss Iris. She had many beautiful flower arrangements at church for years. She was so faithful and worked very hard at any task she was given. We were lucky to have her all these years. May all her family be as faithful to their church as she was to hers

Nothing can prepare us for loss. Gods word the Bible gives us comfort, it provides hope. “There is going to be a resurrection.” (Acts 24:15) God will restore life to those who have died, and they will have the prospect of living forever in paradise on earth. I will miss Iris. Her and Momma can catch up in Heaven now. I loved working with her at Don Dowling Realty and HomeTown Realty. I will never forget the burned popcorn snacks that lingered for days!!!
