Maxine Seivers Sutphin, 91, of Newberry, died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at White Oak Manor.

Born on August 9 ,1926, in Walkertown, N.C., she was a daughter of the late George and Ella Lucinda Stanley Seivers.

She is survived by her husband, Rupert Clinton Sutphin; sons, Leslie A. Sutphin (Karen) of Columbia, Galen C. Sutphin (Rahe) of Columbia, and Dwight D. Sutphin (Cindy) of West Columbia; daughters, Atonia Walpole (Bob) of Columbia, and Lisa Hawes (Eddy) of Georgetown; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Gladys Barneycastle and Inez Whitehart; and a granddaughter, Danielle Sutphin.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Southland Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Tim Ebo. Visitation will be Friday from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the staff of White Oak Manor and MSA Hospice staff for their loving care.

Our love and prayers to Rupert and all of your family. Maxine was like a sister to me and I loved her dearly. We all have so many good memories of our family get togethers. Family meant every thing to Maxine. Much love to all of you. Bobbie, Darren , Pamela and Kirk.
