Dorothy Shealy Stoudemire, 96, of Chapin, widow of Albert C. “A.C.” Stoudemire, died Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at White Oak Manor.

Born on December 18, 1923, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Oneal Calvin Shealy and Minnie Inez Fulmer Shealy Amick. She was a homemaker who loved to sew whether it was making dresses or in her later years making handmade items to give to individuals. When she wasn't sewing or talking on the telephone, she would pass her time sitting in her rocking chair and watching the birds as they ate from the bird feeders. Mrs. Stoudemire was a member of Capers Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Albert W. (Marie) Stoudemire of Chapin; a daughter, Janet S. (Keith) Fulmer of Little Mountain; grandchildren, Dana Dorroh, Brian Fulmer, Ginny Lindler and Donall Stoudemire and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings, Earl Shealy and Gladys Amick.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Cameron Levi. Memorials may be made to Capers Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Penny Hamby, 12550 Broad River Road, Little Mountain, SC 29075.

Following the funeral service the family will greet friends with a drive-by visitation at the graveside.

Due to COVID-19 everyone is reminded of social distancing requirements and the use of masks is strongly encouraged.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who in someway made mom's life on this earth a peaceful one whether it was a card, a visit, a call, kind words or a prayer. She appreciated all of you and we are eternally grateful for the love you showed our mom. May God richly bless all of you!

Dear Albert Wayne, Janet and Families ---We send our sympathy and prayers to all. I remember our Capers Chapel days when Mr. Bonnie Stoudemire would teach our Sunday School Class. We were asked many times why we drove "all the way there" when so many churches here in Newberry. The congregation of people was the reason. Remembering your mom's sweet smile. May all your memories help sustain you in the coming days. Jim and Jean (Jones) Counts

Janet and all your family,
Not much to say except that she can NEVER BE REPLACED. She was truly one of a kind; a truly Christian, loving lady who always made me laugh. She was s "cheerer upper"!! May the love and support of family and friends ease your sorrow.

Janet, Albert & all of "Miss Dot's Family,
This truly breaks my heart. I've been so busy today that I just now got on my computer and saw this. I didn't even know that she was at White Oak!!! I cannot BELIEVE how many people we have lost this year; some to Covid, some to Isolation due to Covid (My Mom !) and others for various reasons. "Miss" Dot always reminded me of my mama and they were close in age as well. Mama passed on August 5th and October 22nd would have been her 98th Birthday. Even tho I know they both lived through The Depression and some hard times in life, I just have to think about what long and basically good lives they led.
My Mom and two of her close neighbors have passed, SO very many from our church, and now "Miss" Lois and "Miss" Dot so close together. I know she was a rock for all of you, and she will remain your rock through all the wonderful memories and stories you have of her.
After she got where she wasn't doing much in the way of alterations, I missed our visits and talks. Just like everyone else, I stayed busy with "life" in general, but how I wish I would've at least picked up the phone to check on her every once in a while. It always made me feel good to see her going to the mailbox on one of my gazillion trips in or out our road.
We all loved Mama Dot dearly. May God surround you all with the love, comfort and peace as only he can do.
Love and hugs,
Kim & Ashleigh
Breanne, Jeremy & Aubree
