Cecil Eugene Mayer, 81, of Pomaria, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at his residence.

Born on June 23, 1929, in Pomaria, he was a son of the late Andrew and Violet Summer Mayer. Mr. Mayer was an Army veteran and was retired from Phillip’s Components. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Day Mayer; sons, Craig Andrew Mayer and Brian Eugene (Tammy) Mayer both of Lexington; a daughter, Beth Marie Mayer of Irmo; a sister, Rosalyn Wieters of Charleston and Marie Bostain of Chapin; a grandson, Blake Andrew Mayer. He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Moore and brothers, Joe Werts Mayer, Dr. Raymond Mayer, Carrol Mayer, John Mayer and Richard Mayer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at St. John’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Kristy Buyok. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 622 Hope Station Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.
