Mabel Boone Stoudemayer, 84, of Greer, widow of Dr. T.C. Stoudemayer, Sr., died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at North Greenville Medical Center, Traveler's Rest.

Born Sept. 2, 1925, in Memphis, TN, she was the daughter of Merrill and Mabel Boone. She was a graduate of Southwestern University, Memphis, TN, and served as chair/president of the Greenville chapter-American Association of University Women (AAUW), AAUW of SC, the Greenville Symphony Guild, the Greenville Cty. Library Board, Greenville Cty. Medical Auxiliary and the ERA for SC committee. During her term as chair of the library board, she coordinated the design and building of several new branch libraries. She also served on the Greenville Symphony Association board and on the United Way budget committee.

She has the distinction of being the first woman elected to the Greenville County School Board and was campaign director for Carolyn Frederick, the first woman elected to the SC state legislature. A breast cancer survivor, she was an active member of two book clubs, three bridge clubs and the Jolly Girls community club.

She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, where she was a member of the Agape Sunday School Class.

Surviving are a sister, Dorothy (Stewart) Dismuke of St. Louis, MO; sons, Rev. John M. (Stephanie) of Little Mountain, SC, and Dr. Tully (Dawn) of Honduras, a daughter, Linda (Dr. Wayne Stupka) of Lumberton, TX; grandsons, Zachary, Trey, Timothy, Luke, Gabriel and Elijah; and granddaughters, Carmen and Anna, and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, at 11 a.m., with visitation proceeding at 10 a.m. at the church. A graveside service will be held in St. John's Lutheran Church, Pomaria, SC, at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 31.

Pastor John, Stephanie and Zack,
please accept our sympathy for the loss of your mother,mother-in-law and grandmother. Remember all the memories that you had with her.
