Ron and I wish to extend our sincere condolences to all who loved Cheryl. We had hoped to make her funeral service and could not. Cheryl was always kind and gracious to us. She always extended a smile and thoughtful word - she never overlooked these important acts of kindness (even in her final weeks of life). She was a positive in our lives for a number of years. She spoke lovingly of her children and she missed her husband. In recent years, Ron has been trying to get a picture from her to put in a booklet of past chamber presidents, but in her usual, modest fashion, she found none pleasing to her. We are truly saddened by her death and will always remember Cheryl with love and affection. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with all who mourn her passing. Sincerely, Ron and Theresa Halfacre

To the Starnes family and friends. I knew Cheryl while I attended Carolina. She was one of the most caring and compassionate people that I ever met. On top of that, she was a wonderful dancer.
When Facebook came about, we re-connected; but times had changed. Along with your family, I will truly miss her.

I’ll love my friend forever. We roomed together at Carolina for two years and shared the ups and downs of college life. I’ll never forget the way we’d sit up all night talking and laughing about the silliest things. Cheryl was the maid of honor at my wedding in 1973, and I was in hers a couple of years later. I’ll miss her and think about her until we meet again. I hope she had the sweetest reunion with Ron, the love of her life. Blessings on her siblings, her children, and those precious grands. She loved you all very much.

I just don't know what I am going to do without her. For nearly 25 years, we have tried to prop each other up and keep ourselves semi-sane in a world of constant insanity. I thought of her as my sister. My heart breaks for you and me.
Love always,
Lisa Wheeler

My sincere sympathy to Cheryl’s children, grandchildren and family. I remember visiting my Uncle Fritz and Aunt Dink when my dad, my mother and I would come to visit and to fish in Lake Murray with Uncle Fritz. Usually Cheryl, Phil, Wendell and I would play in the evenings while the fish were fried. Great memories. Later, Cheryl and Ron lived in Charlotte and Ron and my dad spend a lot of time fishing together. Sadly as time has passed we have gone our separate ways but I will always remember those times in Little Mountain.
