Adger “Mac” Leon McAlister, 70, of Little Mountain, died Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge.
Born on October 27, 1946, in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Lura Hammonds McAlister. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. McAlister was a retired truck driver and a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Lake McAlister; a son, Tony (Bekah) McAlister of Little Mountain; a daughter-in-law, Betsy Homesley of Pomaria; a sister, Mildred Umphrey of TN; brothers, Melvin McAlister of Belton and Thomas McAlister of Newberry; grandchildren, Samantha McAlister, Travis Homesley, Cale Homesley and Jared Homesley; step-grandchildren, Michael Rhodes, Steven Rhodes, and Shannan Rhodes; a great-grandson, Owen Homesley; step-great-grandchildren, Joshua Rhodes, Preston Rhodes, Faith Fulton and Savannah Creticos. Mr. McAlister was predeceased by a step-son, Chris Homesley and siblings, Ida Campbell, Mae Poole, Willie McAlister, James McAlister, Wayne “Butch” McAlister and Alvin McAlister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at St. Peter Lutheran Church by the Rev. David Tholstrup and Rev. Rusty McAlister. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 900 Dreher Island Road, Chapin, SC 29036.
Active pallbearers will be Johnny McAlister, Mike McAlister, Jeffrey Lake, Calvin Lake, Billy Slaven, and Ricky Gant.
