Agnes Corley Kelly, 97, of Newberry, passed at Springfield Place on Friday, December 20, 2024 from this life into her eternal heavenly home.
Born on August 8, 1927 in Newberry County, Mrs. Kelly was the daughter of the late Charles Birette and Azelle Davis Corley of Clinton. Mrs. Kelly was retired from AT&T and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was previously an active member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church for years and loved her church family. She was an active member of the senior group at church known as the Epteens (she also named the group). Mrs. Kelly was a member and past teacher of the Erin Wood Bible class, as well as a member of the Mary Addison circle. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her family, and loved caring for and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Kelly's love for the Lord was exemplified through her life of service to others, as well as unconditional love and grace given to all who knew her. She will be missed but has left behind a gentle and quiet spirit that lives within our hearts forever.
Mrs. Kelly is survived by her daughter, Janet Kelly Chapman; sons in law, Ronnie Chapman and Ronald Protts; grandchildren, Joshua (Kimberly) Chapman, Jami Chapman (Reid) Harrison, Seth Chapman, Kelly Protts (Tripp) Hungerpiller, and Leah Protts (Robbie) Bernardo; eleven great grandchildren and many very special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, James Robert Kelly, “Jim”; a daughter, Karen Kelly Protts of Cameron; sisters, Elizabeth Corley Currence and Anna Corley Dutton; and brothers, Charles Birette Corley, Jr., Thomas Allen Corley, James Davis Corley, and William Duncan Corley.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Rosemont Cemetery by the Reverend Ken Charles and Reverend William Hightower. The family will remain at the graveside following the memorial service to receive family and friends.
