Aletha "Pete" Bedenbaugh

Aletha “Pete” Wertz Bedenbaugh, 84, of Newberry, widow of James R. Bedenbaugh, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at White Oak Manor.

Born on September 21, 1927, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Edwin Eugene and Annie Wise Wertz. She was the retired owner of Pete's Beauty Shop and a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Grace Sease Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Bedenbaugh is survived by her daughter, Alice (Terry) Shaver of Newberry; sisters, Jeanene White of Charleston, Joann Filzer of Oviedo, FL and Wilma Mack of Newberry; grandchildren, Lynn (Duman) Wicker, Rachelle (Matthew) Hitchler and Nina (Travis) Griffin; great-grandchildren, Mary and J.C. Wicker, Annika, Bryce and Isabella Hitchler and Will and Easton Griffin; a sister-in-law, Judy (John) Bedenbaugh of Prosperity. She was predeceased by a son, James Ralph Bedenbaugh and a brother, Rhett Wertz.

Committal services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Newberry Memorial Gardens followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church. Services will be officiated by the Rev. Eric Fink. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
