Alice McLane Kemp, 84, of Taylors, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born on November 11, 1925, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late James C. and Martha Lathan McLane. During her childhood her father’s work required much travel. Mrs. Kemp was able to travel with her father on many occasions and was able to visit Chili as a young child. She graduated Anderson Junior College and attended Winthrop College. In 1947 she married Julian H. Kemp and they were happily married for 56 years until his death in 2003. Mrs. Kemp was a homemaker and had worked at Sam’s Club and was of the Lutheran faith.
She is survived by a son, Michael (Veronica) Kemp of Taylors; a brother, James C. McLane of Clear Lake City, TX; grandchildren, Jason (Laura) Kemp, Jeremy (Shannon) Kemp, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Kemp; great-grandsons, Foster Kemp, Mason Kemp, Dakota Gibbons, Nicholas Kemp and Brandon Kemp; a nephew, Jimmy McLane, and a niece, Patti Campbell.
The family will hold a memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Rosemont Cemetery. The service will be conducted by Rev. Jerry Trantham.
