Alice Rice

Alice Faye Clark Rice, 79, of Whitmire, widow of Leon S. Rice, died Sunday, January 12, 2020 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on March 12, 1940 in Alamance County, NC, she was a daughter of the late James William and Murma Sue Clayton Clark. She was retired from Kendall Company, Oakland Plant and attended Freedom Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rice is survived by a son, Gregory (Tara) Rice of Greenwood; daughters, Teresa (Stevie) Free of Newberry and Kim (Bobby) Shields of Whitmire; a sister, Linda Overman of Creedmoor, NC; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a infant daughter, Linda Kay Rice; siblings, Brenda Patterson, Harold Clark and Bobby Clark; and a granddaughter, Beth Gregory.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:30 – 1:30 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
