Allen McEntire

Cecil Allen McEntire, 66, of Whitmire, died Sunday, November 7, 2021 at his residence.

Born on May 2, 1955 in Newberry, he was a son of the late James Ralph and Kathryn Amick McEntire. He received a B.S. In Civil Engineering from the University of South Carolina and worked for Southeast Rural Community Assistance Project for many years. Allen loved sports, especially college football and golf. He loved mowing his yard and playing guitar.

He is survived by his daughters, Madeleine McEntire of Spartanburg and Mariclare McEntire of New York, NY; a brother, Jim (Kay) McEntire of Columbia; a sister, Marie (Bary) Hickman of Newberry; and extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00PM, Saturday, November 13, 2021 in the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Steve Phillips. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Allen McEntire guitar scholarship at The Lawson Academy of the Arts, 580 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
