Alvin Kenneth York, Sr.

Alvin Kenneth York, Sr., 65, of Newberry died September 16, 2010, at his residence.

Born on May 18, 1945, in Statesville, NC, he was a son of the late Noble Simpson and Ella Mae Mayberry York. He was retired from Fluor Daniel and Prime South and was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Rae Taylor York; sons, Alvin (Tina) York of Newberry, Bobby Shannon (Missy) York of Newberry, and Wesley Garrett (Misty) York of Chapin; brothers Duke York of Statesville, NC and Larry York of Charlotte, NC; and 9 grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Monday, September 20, 2010, at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. The family suggests that those desiring may make memorials to Alzheimer's  Association of South Carolina, 3225 Sunset Blvd., Suite 100, West Columbia, South Carolina 29169.
