Andrew John Pugh

Andrew John Pugh, 87, of Prosperity, died Monday, March 6, 2023, at his residence.

Born on December 27, 1935, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Andrew Pickens and Eva Minick Pugh.  He was an Army veteran, a graduate of Erskine College and was retired from Grinnell.  Mr. Pugh was a member of Cannon’s Creek-Prosperity Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where he had sung in the choir and was actively involved with the Men’s Bible Study Group.  He like his father served the church as an Elder and treasurer.  He was a member of the Prosperity Masonic Lodge #115 AFM for 60 years and was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Pugh is survived by his wife, Vassie Chambers Pugh; sons, Robert Reynolds (Kristie) of Pelion, Andrew Bachman Pugh (Pam) and John Cleveland Pugh both of Prosperity; a daughter, Darlene Anderson (Michael) of Lexington; a sister, Clara Bernhardt of Saluda, VA; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Sauer and a brother, Thomas Pugh.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Brett Blackman.  Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Drew Pugh, Wayne Kinard, Travis Nesland, Steven Reynolds, Trey Drew and Neal Anderson.
