Angus Daniel Senn, 90, of Silverstreet, died Monday, April 8, 2013, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on December 7, 1922, in Silverstreet, he was a son of the late Foster and Elizabeth McMillan Senn. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran who flew bombing missions over France and Germany, including the D-Day assault.
He was the retired CEO of Senn Trucking Company. Before retirement he was active in the national trucking organizations in Washington, including the American Trucking Association and the Truckload Conference. In South Carolina, he served as Chairman of the South Carolina Trucking Association in Columbia as well as being a Board Member for many years.
He served as a Board Member and Chairman of numerous civic organizations and businesses in Newberry County and surrounding areas. He was an avid supporter of Newberry College both academically and athletics. He was a member of the American Legion, the Shriners, the Lions Club and a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he received the Christian Lifetime Service Award and served on numerous committees.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Thomasson Senn; sons, Danny Senn of Newberry, Grady Senn and Henry (Lisha) Senn both of Silverstreet; sisters, Judy Schell of Peach Tree City, GA, Sue White of Murfreesboro, TN and Dolly York of Rock Hill; brothers, George Senn and Billy Senn both of Newberry; grandchildren, Jeremy (Maggie) Senn and Hayley (Patrick) Hecht; great-grandchildren, Jenna Senn and Jackson Senn. Mr. Senn was predeceased by a sister, Lena Webb and brothers, Charlie Senn, Jesse Senn and Frank Senn.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Hugh Bickley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1167 Trinity Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Foster Senn, Wilson Senn, Mark Senn, David Senn, Ronny Davenport and Mike Hall.
