Barbara Lovelace

Barbara Ann Peterson Lovelace, 84, of Newberry, widow of Marvin A. “Chub” Lovelace, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at her residence.

Born on October 9, 1936, in Burnsville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Nell King Peterson. She was retired from the S.C. Employment Security Commission. Mrs. Lovelace had been a member of Etowah Baptist Church while living in Hendersonville, NC and upon her return to Newberry began worshiping via television. She watched First Baptist Church of Columbia and the Rev. Charles Stanley in Atlanta.

She is survived by a daughter, Teresa (Jeff) Weyers; a granddaughter, April Smith and great-granddaughters, Alysa Vaughan and Adriana Smith. She was also survived by a sister-in-law, Golda Peterson; nieces Beth McIntosh and Renee Tomberlin and Marge Montgomery who was like a sister. Mrs. Lovelace is predeceased by a son, Keith A. Lovelace, a daughter, Tamara K. Brock and a brother, Pete Peterson.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, July 23, 2021, at Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at her residence on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 140 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 210, Columbia, SC 29210.
