Barbara Roby

Barbara Jeanne Roby, 59, of Prosperity, died Tuesday night, August 11, 2009 at her residence. She was a devoted wife to Gerald A. Roby, Chief Radioman, US Navy, (Ret.) for 42 years and loving mother to Darlene J. Wilbur (husband – Tom) of Hopkins, SC and James J. Roby (wife - Kim) of Brandon, SD. She was also a proud grandmother of Timothy and Katherine Wilbur of Hopkins, SC and Brittney, Mackenzie, and Nicholas Roby of Brandon, SD.

She was born on 27 June 1950 in Minneapolis, MN to Mildred and Parker Thomas, and has a surviving brother Richard Thomas of Phoenix, AZ. A retired small business owner and civil servant, she enjoyed traveling, spoiling her grandchildren, and enjoying the quiet life at Lake Murray.

A memorial service will be held at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home, 1724 Main Street, Newberry, SC on Saturday, August 15th at 11:00 am. The family would like to extend an invitation to join them for the service and remembrance celebration.
