Barbara Silverfield Lathrop, 82, of Pomaria, died Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born on August 8, 1938, in Nashville, TN, she was a daughter of the late Julian Silverfield, Sr. and Mary Lorene Harrell King. Ms. Lathrop attended the University of South Carolina and was a retired nurse from the Newberry Convalescent Center. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church where she was involved with The Go Group and the United Methodist Women and enjoyed the fellowship and love of her sisters and brothers in Christ.
She is survived by her children, Michael Lathrop (Donna) of Autryville, NC, Roger E. Lathrop (Donna) of Pomaria, Karen L. Livingston (Marty) of Pomaria, Kim O'Dell (Jeff) of Newberry, Katherine Riley (Perry Jr.) of Little Mountain, Kelley Donkle of Prosperity, Kevin Lathrop (Andrea) of Pomaria and Brian Lathrop (Laura) of Prosperity; siblings, Leah Hayes of Irvington, AL, Steven Drake of Austin, TX, Julian Silverfield, Jr. of Nashville, TN and Beverly Loosle of Nashville, TN; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Gold.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 8, 2021, at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Jesse Rogers as the family celebrates her life on her 83 rd birthday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church, 331 Holloway Street, Pomaria, SC 29126.
