Barry Dowd

Frank Barry Dowd, 69, of Pomaria, widower of Cathy Long Dowd, died Sunday, January 30, 2022, at his residence.

Born on March 29, 1952, in Newberry County, he was a son of the late Frank O. and Edith Herlong Dowd. He had served in the South Carolina Guard. Mr. Dowd worked for SCE&G for ten years and for the past thirty-five years Green Acres Construction. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he had served on the Church Council and was a member of the Sunday School Class. He loved to hunt and fish.

Mr. Dowd is survived by a daughter, Shannon (Jason) Smith of Pomaria; a son, Alex (Jada Reed) Dowd of Pomaria; his companion, Judy S. McGee; a sister, Phoebe Mills of Santee; a brother, Edwin (Barbara) Dowd of Prosperity and grandchildren, Calvert Smith, Wesdon Dowd and Brycen Dowd.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Rev. Brent Nichols. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2496 SC Highway 773, Pomaria, SC 29126.

Active pallbearers will be Lowell Dowd, Luke Dowd, Landon Dowd, Tanner Werts, Daniel Wicker and Bryan McGlohorn.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Green Acres Crew.
