Bernice C. Shealy

Bernice Chapman Shealy, 98, of Newberry, died Saturday, May 4, 2024 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born on March 16, 1926 in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Luther Edgar and Lena Mary Kunkle Chapman. Mrs. Shealy was a lifelong member of Colony Lutheran Church where she served in many areas as long as her health would allow.

She is survived  by sons, Doyle (Rosemary) Shealy, Luther (Priscilla) Shealy, and Russell (Ramona) Shealy; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilbur Smith Shealy; a son, Bruce Shealy; and a granddaughter, Erin Shealy. Mrs. Shealy was the last survivor of fourteen children and their spouses.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday, May 6. 2024 in the Colony Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Steven Reynolds. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
