Betty Acord

Betty Baldwin “Mamaw” Acord, 81 of Newberry, widow of Morris Ray Acord, Sr. died Friday, July 22, 2016 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on January 15, 1935 in Carterton, England, she was a daughter of the late Alfred F. and Frances Smith Baldwin. She was a former employee of Mosley Jewelers and Family Dollar of Newberry. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She attended the Newberry County Council on Aging and was a former volunteer at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed working with flowers. She also loved her dog, Roscoe.

She is survived by daughters, Ann Marie Acord of Newberry, Frances “Franny” Bailey of Rowesville, SC, Sharon Berry (Tim Franklin) of Newberry, Carol Ann Acord of Newberry, and Shirley Mack of Newberry; sons, Morris Ray “Buster” Acord, Jr. of Newberry, and Allen Ray Acord of Newberry; sisters, Beryl Brown of North Carolina and Pauline Foster of England; a brother, Barry Baldwin of Spain; grandchildren, Rachael Moore(Brett), David Bailey (Connie), Jessica Acord, Crystal Mitchell (Jacy), Jonathan Harris, Minnie Harris, and Addison Acord; great-grandchildren, Amber Turner, Zachary Harris, Wyatt Harris, Jayden Mitchell, Gavin Mitchell, Landon Bailey, and Leigha Rae Bailey. She was predeceased by a son, David Lee Acord and a sister, Peggy Baldwin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Newberry. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Active pall bearers will be, Joey Werts, Dean Mack, Corey Mack, Jacy Mitchell, Rob Clark, and Ben O'Shields.
