Betty Baker

Betty Ann Koon Baker, 81, of Columbia, widow of John Loyal Baker, died Thursday, April 27, 2017.

Born on October 10, 1935 in Prosperity she was the daughter of the late Sidney Leon Koon, Sr. and Chicora Alliene Williamson Koon. She worked for Dreher Packing for 35 years and later worked at several other jobs prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pomaria, the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Baker loved her canine companion, Tinker Bell II.

She is survived by sons, Randal Baker and fiancée, Brenda Wooten of West Columbia and Wesley Baker and his wife, Lanie of Ridgeway.; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Sidney Leon Koon, Jr.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, April 30, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00- 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2496 SC Highway 773, Pomaria, SC 29126.
