Betty Longshore Magill, 85, of Kinards, widow of Robert Albert Magill, died Monday, April 4, 2016, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on April 17, 1930, in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Herbert and Grace Dowd Longshore. She was a graduate of Bush River School and attended University Hospital School of Nursing in Augusta, GA. She loved children and in her early years she was a foster parent and ran a daycare at her home in Missouri. Mrs. Magill was known for her love of crafts especially her talent of tatting and teaching cake decorating classes. She was a member of the Tatting Guild and the Friends of the 1930's National Women's Birthday Group. She was an active member of Bush River Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School.
She is survived by a daughter, Selma Cornell of Harrisonville, MO; a sister, Nita Longshore Chandler of Kinards; a brother, C. H. Longshore, Jr. of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Tim Cornell and Jim Cornell and great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kelsey and Jackson Cornell; long-term caregivers, Frances and Wade Pitts and nieces and nephews She was predeceased by siblings, Lucy Longshore Greene and Frank M. Longshore.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Bush River Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Todd Johnson. Memorials may be made to Bush River Baptist Church, 8936 Bush River Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be nephews.
