Betty M. Hester

Betty Seegers Hester, 84, of Newberry, died Friday, November 9, 2018 at her residence.

Born on February 11, 1934 in Kershaw she was a daughter of the late Lee and Arrie Reynolds Mahaffey. She was a member of the Newberry Church of God.

Mrs. Hester is survived by her husband, Tony Joe Hester; sons, Leroy Seegers, Jr. of Silverstreet, Mike (Kay) Seegers of Newberry and Charles (Niki) Seegers of Whitmire; a daughter, Ruth (Chuck) Roof of Newberry; sisters, Jeanette Banks of Bethune and Mary Lee (Ike) Ruby of Cassatt; eleven grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Leroy Seegers, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Newberry Church of God by the Rev. Timothy Haulbrook and Rev. Michael Davis. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. the family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Seegers, 1651 Glenn Street Ext., Newberry. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1741, Greenwood, SC 29648.
