Betty Wicker

Elizabeth Werts Wicker, 81, of Newberry, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at Regency Hospital in Greenville.

Born on December 30, 1930, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Janie Singley Werts and Alva E. Werts, Sr. She was a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Newberry.

Mrs. Wicker is survived by a son, Eugene “Gene” Wicker, Jr.; sisters, Christine F. Linder and Faye (James) Hill; a number of nephews and a faithful companion dog, Scarlette. She was predeceased by her husband, Olin E. “Wick” Wicker, Sr., a daughter, Donna Wicker-Taylor and a brother, Alva E. “Pete” Werts, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Newberry by the Rev. Mantle Nance. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the church bus fund, 1701 Main Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
