Billy Morris

Billy D. Morris, 73, of Newberry, died Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on June 28, 1936 in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Dudley Morgan and Myrtle Estelle Livingston Morris. He was retired as a supervisor-carpenter with American Fiber & Finishing. He was a member of Colony Lutheran Church and the Newberry Amity Lodge # 87 AFM. He was a very devoted husband, father and greatly loved his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Nichols Morris; sons, Todd D. (Lisa) Morris and their children, Alexis and Nicholas of Newberry and Jeffrey S. (Wanda) Morris and their children, Collin and Victoria of Prosperity; sisters, Clara Ringer of Pomaria and Betty Stuck of Newberry; brothers, Bobby F. Morris and James Earl Morris both of Prosperity; and his cat, Kitty Tom. Mr. Morris was predeceased by brothers, Oscar “Bunk” Benny Morris, Ralph Morris, D.M. Morris, Harry Morris; sisters, Mildred Ringer, Rosalee Kitchens, Myra “Weese” Morris.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Colony Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jerry Trantham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Colony Lutheran Church Beautification Project or Bus Fund, 48 Colony Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
