Billy Ray Willingham, 77, of Newberry died October 28, 2009 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born on March 14, 1932 in Newberry, he was a son of the late William M. and Ethel Bouknight Willingham. He served in the SC National Guard and was retired from the City of Newberry after having worked at the George Hugh Connelly Waste Water Treatment Plant and was a member of O’Neal Street United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his sisters, Harriet (Louis) Lathren, Clara Jean (Billy T.) Davis and Rita F. (Andrew) Douglass all of Greenwood; a brother, Dendy C. (Pat) Willingham, Sr.of Pomaria; nephews, Dendy (Darlene) Willingham, Jr., William Earl Willingham, Samuel Ray Willingham, Stanley (Kathy) Lathren; great nieces and nephews, Dana White, Lindsey Perez, Crystal Awtry, Travis lathren, Nicholas Lathren, Casey E. Lathren, Haley Ann Willingham, Kameron Willingham, and Hope E. Willingham; and extended family,Doreen W. Willingham. He was predeceased by a niece, Darlene Davis and nephews, Mark Davis and Terry Lathren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
