Robert “Bob” Franklin Wallace, 95, resident of Springfield Place in Newberry, SC passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017. He was born in Upstate New York in 1921, to George and Anna Hutson Wallace. Bob was married 66 years to the late Dorothy McKnight Wallace who died in 2013. He is survived by one son, Gary Wallace, (Linda B.) of Newberry, SC and two grandsons, Derek Wallac, (Jaclyn) of Austin, Texas and Reid Wallace, (Joanna) of Houston, Texas. A second son, Craig Wallace, of Houston, Texas died in 2003.
Bob graduated from Akron University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a World War II Army veteran who served on The Manhattan Project at Oak Ridge, TN. He was employed by BF Goodrich of Akron, OH and was relocated by the company to South Carolina where he retired after 30+ years of service.
After retirement he was passionate about many things including playing golf and bridge, making clocks and knives and wood carvings. He was extremely loved and proud of his two grandsons, Derek and Reid, who remembered that growing up they wanted to be like him and knew him to be a very patient teacher.
A private service will be held for the family. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 26 th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the home of Gary and Linda Wallace at 2114 Johnston Street in Newberry.
