Bobby Hamby

Bobby Ray Hamby, 82, of Newberry, died Saturday, September 10, 2016, at his residence.

Born on July 2, 1934, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Willie Austin and Mamie Alice Hill Hamby. He was an Army veteran and retired from the United States Department of Agriculture. He was a member of College Street Baptist Church.

Mr. Hamby is survived by his wife, Joy Reynolds Hamby; daughters, Terrie H. (Clark) Smallwood and Cynthia G. Hamby; step-son, Eric Bartlett; step-daughter, Deborah (Steve) Williams; a sister, Vernice H. Fuller; eight grandchildren, one step-grandchild, sixteen great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Millie Taylor Hamby, an infant daughter, Beverly Kay Hamby and siblings, Carl Hamby, Claude Hamby, Charles Hamby Roberta Hamby, Polly Mills, Willie Cooper and Eunice Long.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 pm Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm in McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Chad Ashby. A private family burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery. Memorials may be made to College Street Baptist Church, PO Box 6026, Newberry, SC 29108 or to Palmetto Health Hospice, PO Box 352, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne Cassady, Dale Eargle, Richie Warren, David Warren, Jason McKee, Eric Bartlett and Joey Bodie.
