Robert “Bobby” Cecil Shealy, 86, of Newberry, died Thursday, September 23, 2010, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on January 24, 1924, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Simon L. Shealy, Sr. and Lula Pearl Shealy. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a retired carpenter and painter having worked with Shealy and Boozer Carpenters and later owned Shealy’s Home Repair. Mr. Shealy was a member of Colony Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Lutheran Men and had served in many other capacities over the years in the church. He served for many years as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and a volunteer with the Clemson Extension at the Newberry Farmer’s Market.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Cook Shealy; daughters, Vicki (Raymond) Ruff and Donna Sanders both of Newberry; grandchildren, Cathryn E. “Beth” (Mike) Jaeger and Raymond H. Ruff III and great-grandchildren, Mallorie A. Jaeger and Kindel C. Jaeger. Mr. Shealy was predeceased by a son-in-law, Tim Sanders and his siblings, Alton Leonard Shealy, Vernon Shealy, Drucy Son, Ruby Gentry, Ethel Hyler, Hugh Shealy, Mary Brigman and S.L. “Toot” Shealy, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Colony Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jerry Trantham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1300 Hunt Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
