Brenda Graham Chappell, 76, of Pomaria, widower of Michael Chase Chappell, Sr., died Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Providence Hospital.

She was born on January 13, 1943 in Pomaria to the late Olin Everette “Toot” and Frances Powell Graham. Mrs. Chappell retired after 38 years as a kindergarten assistant from Pomaria-Garmany Elementary School. She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church where she served as church organist for over 30 years and was a member of WELCA.

She is survived by sons, Dr. Michael Chase (Sheila Taylor) Chappell, Jr. of Travelers Rest and Mark Everette (Sharon Bedenbaugh) Chappell of Pomaria; a daughter, Pastor Melissa Arrington Chappell of Pomaria; grandchildren, Jarrod Grant (Anna Gravely) Chappell, Caleb Arrington Chappell and Phillip Chase Chappell and a great-granddaughter, Reese Alexandria Chappell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 14, 2019 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church by the Rev. Steven Jackson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Fund at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, PO Box 170, Pomaria, SC 29126.

Active pallbearers will be Jarrod Chappell, Caleb Chappell, Chase Chappell, Brian Blanchard, Michael Berry and Charles Ringer.

The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Newberry County Memorial Hospital, Providence Hospital ICU, SC Hospice Care and Dr. Carroll Pinner III.
