James Brice Boozer, 78, of Prosperity, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on January 19, 1946, in Newberry, he was the son of the late James Elmer Boozer and Ruth Frick Boozer.
Brice began his career journey working alongside his father and uncle at Sunrise Auto Supply, learning the ropes of the trade and cultivating a deep appreciation for hard work and dedication. Eager to expand his horizons, Brice ventured into the world of agriculture and found employment with Bedenbaugh Seeding. However, Brice was the epitome of a self-made entrepreneur and in 1984 he founded a thriving enterprise, Trademaster, Inc., that specializes in sowing grass. In 2014, Brice expanded his operations to include a new service: opening and closing of graves for cemeteries. Through unwavering determination, Brice transformed his humble beginnings into a testament to the power of hard work.
Brice was a man deeply rooted in the joys of farming. He found solace in the rhythm of the land, tending to his crops with care and dedication. Yet, it was his herd of cows that truly captured his heart. Beyond the fields, Brice’s affection extended to his loyal pack of dogs. Their presence was a constant reminder of the simple joys found in farm life.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice Shealy Boozer; son, Jamie Boozer of Prosperity; grandchildren, Ryan Boozer and Mason Boozer; and a sister, Linda Corley.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Eric Boozer; and a sister, Dianne Corley.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Jimmy Counts and Rev. Ralph T. Bowling, III at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or a charity of one’s choice.
