Brigitte Wheeler

Brigitte Diane Wheeler, 43, of Newberry, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at her residence.

Born on February 13, 1974, in Newberry, she was the daughter of John Forrest Wheeler, Jr. and Mildred Branham Hatchell. She was a graduate of Piedmont Technical College and had been employed at Newberry County Memorial Hospital and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her father, John (Sylvia) Wheeler; her mother, Mildred (Scottie) Hatchell; daughters, Brittany Taylor (Dylan) and Nikki (Tyler) Poag both of Newberry; her fiancée, Ronnie Derrick; step-son, Ben (Sara) Derrick of Newberry; step-daughter, Hannah Derrick of Newberry; brother, Johnny (Melba) Wheeler of Prosperity and grandchildren, Cali Derrick, Nathan Taylor and Colton Poag; step-grandson, Caden Collins. She was predeceased by grandparents, Mary S. and John Forrest Wheeler, Sr. and Myrtle and Wylie Branham and an aunt and uncle, Royce and Anne Counts.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, April 21, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Rev. Brent Nichols and Rev. Michael Price. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice, 184 Commerce Drive, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Kinard, Austin Wheeler, Ben Derrick, Shane Bowers, Alan Sligh and Huger Caughman, Jr.
