Roy Bruce Abrams, 86, of Pomaria, died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on October 24, 1925, in Joanna, he was a son of the late Joe and Olie Crowe Abrams. Mr. Abrams was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran who served as a Boatswain Mate 2 nd Class in OMOC Bay in the Philippine Islands. He was wounded in service on December 12, 1944. He retired from Clinton High School as a master carpenter. Mr. Abrams was a member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Joy Fellowship and Sunday School Class B.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wicker Abrams; a brother, Algie Abrams of Joanna and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Copeland and brothers, J. L. Abrams and Floyd Abrams.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 2461 St. Philip's Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Brad Abrams, George Bollibon, Alex Kibler, Blake Kibler, Russell Kibler, Nick Morris, Anthony Pelton and Dillon Pelton.
