Carl Claude Wicker, 49, of Chapin died July 2, 2009 at his residence.
Born in Latta, he was a son of Edith Frick Wicker and the late Claude C. Wicker. He was retired from South Carolina Electric and Gas and was a former member of St. Philip’s Lutheran Church where he served on church council. Mr. Wicker was a graduate Mid Carolina High School, a former Chairman of Ducks Unlimited, Newberry Chapter, former owner of Cannon's Creek Kennels, a former Pomaria Dixie Youth Baseball coach, and an avid University of South Carolina Baseball fan.
He is survived by his mother of Newberry; a son, Ryan Michael Wicker of Pomaria; two daughters, Nicole Wicker Hooks and husband Scotty of Chapin, and Shanna Faith Wicker of Little Mountain; a brother, Wayne Wicker and wife Beth of Newberry; a sister, Norma Jean Wicker Colby and husband Craig of Mt. Pleasant, nieces and nephews, Kaylyn and Layton Wicker and Sophia and Garrett Colby; a dear friend, Bobbie Wessinger, and his former wife, Sheryl Wicker.
Graveside services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday in St. Philip’s Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Terry Amick. The family is at the home of his mother, Mrs. Edith Wicker, 962 Mud Creek Road, Newberry where they will receive friends.
