Caroline McCrackin Workman Henderson of 1615 Lindsay Street, Newberry, passed away May 25, 2010, at her residence after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Newberry on October 24, 1921, the daughter of Thad and Margaret Matthews McCrackin.

Caroline was predeceased by her first husband, Jack Blease Workman, Lt. Col (Ret.) USAF, POW, who was the grandson of Chief Justice Eugene Satterwhite Blease; and her second husband, Lykes S. Henderson, Lt. Col. (Ret.) USAF, POW. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Thad McCrackin, Jr., Edward D. McCrackin, Col, (Ret.) USA, and Thomas B. McCrackin; and her loving sister, Evelyn McCrackin Brooks.

Surviving are her daughter, Carol Blease Workman Chewning (Wayne); her grandson, Benjamin Justin Chewning; her loving sister, Eliza McCrackin Parr and many nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private memorial service at Rosemont Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be forwarded to Hospice Care of Tri-County, 13795 C.R. Koon Highway, Newberry, SC 29108. We would like to acknowledge and give heartfelt thanks to Dr. Alan Paysinger and our newest family member/nurse, Kelly Warren.
