Anita Carolyn Smith Bouknight, 77, of Newberry, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at White Oak Manor.
Born on August 1, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Floyd Smith and Ola Schumpert Smith. She was retired from Columbia Radiology. Mrs. Bouknight was a member of O’Neal Street United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Kathleen Dubose Circle, a member of the choir and taught Sunday School for a number of years.
She is survived by her husband, Rudolph Bouknight; sons, Joel Bouknight and Darryn Bouknight, and his wife, Jennifer Morrison, of Cayce and a sister, Loretta Guilford of Chapin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2011, at O’Neal Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Richard Goldie. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to O’Neal Street United Methodist Church, PO Box 5, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Clarence Livingston, Albert Harvey, Lewis Lee, Perry Threatt, Andrew Shealy and Dell Rowe.
Honorary pallbearers will be staff of White Oak Manor and members of the United Methodist Women.
