Carolyn Virginia Ivey Harmon, 82, of Newberry died Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home. 

Born on March 6, 1942 in Beech Island, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Loren A. and Frances Story Ivey. She retired as a Teachers Assistant with the Newberry County School District and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Carolyn was a planner, and loved planning family get togethers. She always wanted everything to be just right. She was very athletic, and enjoyed playing softball, tennis, and badminton. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending her time with them. 

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gary Lee Harmon; daughters, Nikki Harmon Horne (Mike) of Prosperity and Gina Lynne Harmon of Newberry; a step-son, Gary Lee Harmon, Jr. (Mary) of Simpsonville; a step-daughter, Nancy Belinda Duncan of Simpsonville; a sister, Loretta Johnson of Irmo; grandchildren, Gary Marshall Horne, Ivey Elizabeth Horne, Michael Kent Stroud, Jr., Ashlye Stroud Parker (Josh), Jackson Lee Stroud, and Addi Brooke Darnell; step-grandchildren, Deegee Duncan, Jamie Duncan, Lindsey Duncan, Matthew Duncan, and Gary Lee Harmon, III; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by brothers, William Anthony Ivey, Loren Abbot Ivey, James Robert Ivey, and Jerry Cecil Ivey; and sisters, Marie Trotter and Patricia Godfrey.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 23, 2024 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

The family would like to thank Dr. Spencer Lovelace, Three Oaks Hospice, Jackie Hawkins, Gin Gibson, and the staff of J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home for their love and care.
