Carolyn Addy Sligh, 92, of Newberry, widow of Charles Edward Sligh, died Monday, October 31, 2016, at Springfield Place.
Born on April 21, 1924, in Newberry, she was the daughter of the late Homer Chapman and Louise Stillwell Addy. Mrs. Sligh was retired from BB&T. She was a member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Erin Wood Sunday School Class and the Mary Addison Circle. She and her husband were active in the organization of the Newberry Dance Club at the Newberry Moose Lodge.
She is survived by daughters, Debra (Sam) Whitt of Spartanburg and Lisa (Joe) Felder of Lexington; grandchildren, Charlene Layton Kneece, Riann E. Whitt, Emily W. (Elliott) Goldsmith and Charles J. (Andrea) Felder; great-grandchildren, Cammie Myers, Carlie Kneece, Wright Goldsmith, Whitt Goldsmith and Elizabeth Ann Goldsmith. Mrs. Sligh was predeceased by her brothers, Ligon Addy and Russell Addy.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Epting Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. William Hightower and Mr. Rick McCutcheon. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to Epting United Methodist Church, 1401 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Fred Fulmer, Danny Fulmer, Richard Fulmer and her nephews.
