Carrie Lee McSwain Pritchard, 101, widow of James D. Pritchard, Sr. passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024. 

Mr. & Mrs. Pritchard were married for 64 years. Carrie Lee was the daughter of the late Lucius Lee McSwain and Agnes McSwain Wallace and the step-daughter of Haskell Neel Wallace. She is predeceased by her daughter Agnes P. Beckham, by her brother John J. McSwain and his wife Julia Faye Boozer McSwain. 

Mrs. Pritchard was born in Newberry, SC August 2, 1923 and graduated Newberry High School in 1940 where she was president of her class all four years. After attending Winthrop College from 1940 to 1941, she transferred to Newberry College in 1942 and completed a business degree in 1943. During WWIl, She worked at the Port of Embarkation in Charleston. 

After the war, she returned to Newberry and worked as a dental assistant to Dr. E.M. Anderson and also served as organist for Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church and the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Newberry. She married James D. Pritchard, Sr. in 1949. 

In their golden years, the Pritchards retired to Lake Murray, traveled and were members of Macedonia Lutheran Church. She is survived by two children: Sally P. Wallace of Newberry, and James D. Pritchard, Jr. of Grapevine, Texas. Her survivors also include: 8 grandchildren, 12, great-grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. 

A private memorial graveside service will be held at Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry.
