Carrie W. Slice

Carrie Elizabeth White Slice, 100, of Charleston, formerly of Newberry, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at her residence.

Born on March 25, 1914, in Augusta, GA, she was a daughter of the late William and Cora Ellen Berry White. She was retired from Kendall Company, Oakland Plant and was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Slice is survived by a daughter, Pamela S. Oliver and husband, Lawrence M. “Mike” Oliver of Charleston; a brother, William C. “Doc” White of Newberry; granddaughter, Melissa O. Harrison and husband, Pat Harrison of Covington, GA. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, John M. Slice and siblings, Willie Berry, Clarence White, Frank White, Mary W. Shealy and Jenny W. Eason.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. Burial will follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church Chime Fund, 1105 First Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
