Catherine Derrick

Catherine Martin Derrick, 87, of Newberry, widow of Homer B. Derrick, died Friday, February 11, 2011, at White Oak Manor.

Born on January 9, 1924, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Luther Patrick Martin and Lula Stockman Padgett. She was a retired Manager of Barclays American Financial and was a charter member of College Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Keith Wayne Derrick of Newberry; grandchildren; Kimberly Werts and her husband Joe, Kristie Harrison and her husband Robert, and Brittany Derrick; great-grandchildren, Katlin Harrison, Collin Harrison, Kassidy Harrison, and Hunter Werts. She was predeceased by sisters, Vanessa Richardson and Daisy Fulmer and a brother, L.T. Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2011, at College Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Kathy Harris and Rev. Ken Ferrell. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to College Street Baptist Church, 3240 College Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Helen Beebe, 181 Tailers Trail, Leesville, SC 29072.
